Possible Worlds

Here's what people are saying about Possible Worlds 2010...

In the Australian Financial Review, Hannah Tattersall interviews Margaret Atwood about In The Wake of The Flood, ahead of the film's world premiere at the Festival.

"It remains to be seen if the festival can top last year's poll dancing romp," Alice Tynan asks in Concrete Playground (with good reason, it's a hard night to beat!). "The genius of this festival is a program that eagerly mixes premiere screenings with parties, talks and welcome drinks," she continues. "That's Canadian hospitality for you."

In The Daily Telegraph, Vicky Roach wonders about the proliferation of small film festivals in Sydney, agrees our line-up is "one cool collection" (though it might just be an Arctic Blast pun).

Want to hear from the filmmakers themselves? John Safran speaks with Leslie, My Name Is Evil director Reg Harkema on Triple J's Sunday Night Safran on August 1st (podcast will also be available here).

Suck's Rob Stefaniuk, meanwhile, is interviewed in Drum Media (Aug. 3rd issue).

In Trespass Magazine, Beth Wilson interviews Possible Worlds programmer Matt Ravier about cinephilia and the necessity for film festivals to have a conversation with the audience.

At Trespass, you'll also find reviews of Invisible City, Suck, Leslie, My Name Is Evil and The Wild Hunt.

Matt Ravier is also interviewed in this week's Drum Media, at SBS Film, and on SBS radio's French language program, en francais bien sur!

Meanwhile genre experts Twitch Film call us "one of the coolest film festivals in Australia". They're particularly enthused by vampire comedy Suck (which they saw at Montreal's world-renowned genre-fest FanTasia.

In Melbourne, true cinephiles are peeling their retinas off the floor after back to back screenings at the Melbourne International Film Festival, on now. Several of our films are also playing at MIFF: Chloe, 1981, Genius Within and The Trotsky. On Twitter the buzz is particularly good on the latter.
