We're thrilled to reveal that the 6th Canadian Film Festival will open with the Australian premiere of SCORE: A HOCKEY MUSICAL. Charming, slick and unashamedly Canadian, Score celebrates “the greatest game in the land”...

Homeschooled teenager Farley (Noah Reid) spends his free time playing street hockey and hanging out with girl next door Eve (Allie MacDonald). Much to the dismay of his free-spirited parents (Olivia Newton-John is the hockey mom), Farley is signed to a major league, catapulted to instant stardom and constant hype. He soon finds that hockey fame comes with a price, not least of which is the expectation to throw a few punches on and off the rink.

Hockey provides a colourful backdrop for this gleeful coming-of-age musical, brought to life by catchy tunes, priceless Canadian cameos and a healthy dose of camp. Michael McGowan’s follow up to One Week (Possible Worlds 2009) is a welcome throwback to both the pre-ironic teen comedies of the 80’s and the heyday of vintage musicals.

“A warm, irreverent and irresistibly goofy love letter to Canada’s national pastime. “ – The Hollywood Reporter
