Possible Worlds

Possible Worlds isn’t just made up of film screenings. We believe you visit a film festival for adventurous programming and films you might not get a chance to see elsewhere - that's a given. What else?

At Possible Worlds, we offer a free drink at most screenings, and the chance to chat with staff and guests about what you've seen and what you've liked... There's a great photo exhibition too, and the chance to vote for the Audience Award for Best Film. You can meet talented filmmakers and actors from Canada, and take part in Q&A sessions after the film.

But that's not all... Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the Factory Theatre. take a chance on one of our party-screenings, with a free drink & pizza on arrival, and some of Sydney’s most exciting bands to follow the films. That's a whole night of entertainment for just $15.

Thursday the 11th is PONTYPOOL, a cult zombie film by Director Bruce McDonald, accompanied by a Q&A session with the actors, and an intimate set by Johnsong. With a smooth folky sound and loop-heavy songs that range from serious, soulful and romantic to light-hearted comedy Johnsong will leave you swooning. The innovative soloist’s set will feature songs from his album ‘Swallow Pretend’.

Friday August 12 join us for BEAUTY DAY, a documentary about The Cap’n Video Show’s DIY stuntman Ralph Zavadil. It'll be followed by a Q&A with director Jay Cheel, and a performance-art experimental-electronica extravaganza with circuit bending geniuses Toydeath. With their arsenal of toy instruments Gi Joe, Big Judy and Super Mario Dad will destroy your expectations of what happens when a Sax-a-boom meets a talking Jesus.

Saturday August 13 is a drum based affair with documentary A DRUMMER'S DREAM, a chance to display your superior drumming skills in a drum solo contest (registration on the night), and a performance by The Sculptures, who are introducing their brand new drummer Timmy C. The Sculptures will judge the drum competition, then awe you with their energetic indie rock featuring infectiously danceable tunes from their EP ‘Sirens will Howl’.

BOOK TICKETS: PONTYPOOL / BEAUTY DAY / A DRUMMER'S DREAM
