A young couple find their relationship tested by an uninvited guest in this gripping, unsettling drama.

Thomas and Marianne decide to spend a weekend at Thomas’s uncle’s lakeside cottage. The getaway is a bid to save their tempestuous relationship, under threat from meaningless flirtations and irrepressible jealousy. They’re greeted by a man who claims to be the neighbour – he has the keys to the house and seems friendly enough. Soon, however his insistant, seductive presence arouses suspicion.

Improvised during its sixteen-day shoot by the gifted cast, Jaloux is a low-budget marvel. A sense of foreboding permeates this smartly constructed relationship drama. Using thriller elements to heighten the tension and raise the dramatic stakes, Patrick Demers keeps us on edge right until the rewarding finish.
