A high-octane drama about the adrenaline rush and ethical complexities of combat photography
The Bang Bang Club was the name given to four fearless young photographers, whose images drew international attention to the final bloody days of white rule in South Africa. The film captures the gripping true stories behind the world famous photos and the brutal conflict which led to the country's first free, multiracial elections in 1994, and the end of Apartheid.
From the bad-ass daredevil stunts of these freewheeling photographers to the sobering reality of civil war, from Pulitzer wins and instant fame to the thorny moral, political and racial issues surrounding their work, The Bang Bang Club asks increasingly probing questions. Good performances, heart-pounding action sequences and stunning cinematography by Miroslaw Baszak make for a riveting, thought-provoking experience.
“Steven Silver's impressive film manages to balance politics, visceral action, photography, boozy antics and moral dilemmas.” – Screen International
